Pulpotomy

A pulpotomy is a common dental procedure for children used to treat decay or infection that has reached the pulp (nerve) of a primary tooth. Unlike a pulpectomy, which removes all the pulp tissue, a pulpotomy removes only the infected portion while preserving the healthy pulp in the root. The tooth is then sealed with a medicated material to prevent further infection and typically covered with a crown for protection. This procedure helps maintain the tooth until it naturally falls out, supporting proper chewing, speech development, and alignment of permanent teeth.
